Cashew Lateral Flow

Cashew nuts, in combination with other tree nuts, constitute a relatively common cause of food allergy, capable of triggering severe allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Accordingly, food labeling laws in many countries require food labels to clearly indicate cashew content. To assist the food industry in establishing effective food safety practices, ELISA SYSTEMS® has developed a rapid test kit that can reliably detect Cashew Nut residues in food and on surfaces and equipment.

Intended Use

The ELISA SYSTEMS® AllergenControl™ Cashew Residue Lateral Flow Test features polyclonal antibodies directed against cashew nut proteins configured in a sandwich format. To operate the kit, the sample is first subjected to a short extraction step. The sample extract is then directly applied to the lateral flow device sample port, where it is allowed to migrate across the reagent zone thus enabling visualization of the Sandwich Test Line (T) results. In addition, the reagent zone includes a Procedural Control Line (C) to minimize the potential for false negative outcome

Assay Principles

The ELISA SYSTEMS® Buckwheat Residue Detection Kit is based on the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay format. The food sample is first subjected to an extraction procedure and then assayed by ELISA method for the presence of buckwheat allergens. The results may be quantified by comparing the test results against results obtained from protein standards supplied in the kit.
